NEW YORK, NY – Irene Macyk, RN, MS, PhD(c), has been named Chief Nursing Officer/Associate Executive Director, Patient Care Services at Lenox Hill Hospital effective May 2015. As a member of the senior leadership team, Macyk will be responsible for creating and communicating the vision and direction for nursing at the hospital. She will lead the overall clinical and administrative operations and strategy for patient care services and will partner with physicians and administrators to optimize hospital operations, as well as improve patient satisfaction and clinical outcomes.
Macyk has been with the North Shore-LIJ Health System for over nine years and most recently served as Senior Administrative Director, Patient Care Services at North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) where she oversaw multiple nursing units and managed strategic hospital initiatives, including patient experience and patient throughput improvement programs. Prior to joining NSUH, she served in various leadership and clinical transformation roles at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, Stony Brook University Hospital and Huntington Hospital.
As a distinguished healthcare leader, Macyk has been honored with several awards, including the NYSNA Excellence in Nursing Education Award, the Professional Nurses Association of Suffolk County’s Margaret M. Hardy Award for Nursing Excellence, and Stony Brook University Hospital’s Lenora McClean Award for Excellence in Advanced Practice. She has also lectured and contributed to numerous publications.
Macyk received her BSN and MS degrees from Adelphi University, where she is currently pursuing a PhD with a concentration in healthcare outcomes. She maintains memberships in many national organizations, including the American Nurses Association, the American Organization of Nurse Executives, Sigma Theta Tau, and the Professional Nurses Association of Suffolk County, where she has previously served as a board member.
