HUNTINGTON, NY – The Joint Commission recently recognized Huntington Hospital for its top-notch palliative care services.
The Huntington Hospital palliative care group is an interdisciplinary team including two physicians, a nurse practitioner, a social worker, a chaplain and an administrative assistant.
To obtain Joint Commission certification, Huntington Hospital’s palliative care program underwent a voluntary onsite evaluation to determine its compliance with The Joint Commission’s stringent standards. The Joint commission, which is based in Oak Brook, Ill., evaluates hospitals for the quality of their services.
“We are very proud to have achieved Joint Commission accreditation for palliative care,” said Adrianna Garite, DO, chief of palliative medicine at Huntington Hospital. “The Joint Commission’s Advanced Certification Program for Palliative Care recognizes hospital inpatient programs that demonstrate exceptional patient and family-centered care and optimize the quality of life for patients with serious illness. I am honored to have the privilege to lead such a dedicated, compassionate and skilled team to provide the highest quality palliative care to the community of Huntington.”
