Northwell GoHealth Opens Chelsea Center
Northwell Health GoHealth Urgent Care continues to rapidly grow its walk-in-clinic network in the New York metro area. Its latest addition is a Chelsea location on 23rd Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues. The new GoHealth site is in close proximity to Lenox Health Greenwich Village, a freestanding emergency room run by Northwell Health, GoHealth’s joint-venture partner. The latest clinic has four exam rooms, with one designated for more complex procedures. Its location is farther west than several of its urgent-care competitors. CityMD has two locations on 14th Street and 23rd Street near Fifth Avenue, while New York Doctors and Urgent Medical Care have opened nearby in Greenwich Village. Chelsea is among the city’s wealthiest districts. Median household income within Manhattan’s Community Board 4 was $98,685 in 2014. The large number of young professionals living in the area, many of whom don’t have a relationship with a physician, made the neighborhood an attractive one for GoHealth, said Sarah Arora, the chain’s New York market president. “The population density is growing rapidly in Chelsea, and with population density comes a need for health care,” she said. She characterized the area as “underserved,” pointing out that doctors tend to cluster around Manhattan’s hospitals, many of which are on the East Side.
