GLEN COVE, NY – Glen Cove Hospital announced today that Luigi M. Capobianco, MD, has been appointed chief of geriatrics at Glen Cove Hospital and Philip V. DeLuca, MD, has been named chief of general internal medicine at the facility. Both physicians are affiliated with the School Street Family Practice in Glen Cove.
A resident of Glen Head, Dr. Capobianco, holds numerous positions at various community nursing and rehabilitation facilities, including medical director of the Visiting Nurse Association of Long Island and the Ozanam Hall of Queens Nursing Home. He also is an attending physician at Glengariff-Health Related Facility and Marquis Care Center, both in Glen Cove. Since 1988, he has been an attending physician at Glen Cove Hospital and also served as chief resident.
Dr. Capobianco earned his MD degree from the University of Sienna, Faculty of Medicine and Surgery in Sienna, Italy, and completed his residency in family practice at Glen Cove Hospital. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Practice and the American College of Specialists on Geriatrics. Dr. Capobianco is board certified in family practice, geriatrics, family and internal medicine and medical directorship. He is an adjunct clinical professor at LIU Post -Long Island University’s School of Health Professions.
Dr. DeLuca, a resident of Bayville, earned his MD degree from the Universita Degli Studi Catania in Catania, Italy. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine.
Dr. DeLuca is an attending physician at the Marquis Care Center and Glengariff –Poplar Hill Facility in Glen Cove. Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. DeLuca is a member of the American Medical Association, the New York State Medical Society and the Nassau County Medical Society. He has served in several leadership roles of the Medical Board at Glen Cove Hospital including, president, vice president and secretary/treasurer.
