GLEN COVE, NY – The North Shore-LIJ Health System recently appointed Doreen O’Grady, RN, DNP as chief nursing officer and associate executive director of patient care services at Glen Cove Hospital. Dr. O’Grady has held various clinical and managerial roles at the health system for more than 30 years and previously was chief nursing officer at Forest Hills Hospital.
In her role as chief nursing officer at Glen Cove, Dr. O’Grady has 24/7 responsibility for the nursing department, pharmacy, respiratory and dietary and nutrition. She oversees patient care as well as clinical, financial and quality management. Dr. O’Grady also maintains compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Over the last three decades, the Bayville resident has served Glen Cove Hospital as the director of the Emergency Department, Critical Care and Behavioral Health; and assistant director and assistant head nurse of the Emergency Department. She began her career at Glen Cove as a staff nurse in the Coronary Care Unit.
Dr. O’Grady earned her DNP from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH; a MBA from Dowling College in Oakdale; and her BS in nursing from Adelphi University in Garden City. She is certified as a nurse executive and an emergency nurse.
Dr. O’Grady is a member of the American Nursing Association, the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the Emergency Nursing Association. She has participated in the Cornell-HANYS Academy for Healthcare Leadership Advancement Program and was recognized by North Shore-LIJ with a nursing leadership award.
