MANHASSET, NY -- The Northwell Health Cancer Institute will host an educational event to present the latest updates about breast cancer on Wednesday, June 21, 2016 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at North Shore University Hospital, Rust Auditorium, 300 Community Drive in Manhasset.
An annual community event, Breast Cancer 2016, is free and open to the public. The program will begin with registration and light refreshments from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 pm. Lora Weiselberg, MD, chief of breast cancer services, Don Monti Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology, and co-director, Breast Cancer Center at the Northwell Health Cancer Institute, will welcome attendees and give opening remarks. Presentations will follow:
- Breast cancer screening: Ending the confusion: Nina Vincoff, MD, chief, Division of Breast Imaging, Northwell Health;
- Ovarian cancer: What you need to know: Veena John, MD, medical oncologist, co-director, Gynecologic Oncology Center, Northwell Health Cancer Institute;
- Breaking news: 2016 updates from the American Society of Clinical Oncology: Jane Carleton, MD, medical oncologist, associate chief, clinical affairs, Don Monti Division of Medical Oncology and Hematology, Northwell Health Cancer Institute;
- Life after cancer: A new normal: Janna Andrews, MD, radiation oncologist, Department of Radiation Medicine, Northwell Cancer Institute.
Following presentations, there will be a questions and answers session.
