Door-To-Door Service for Our Youngest Patients

The Billie and George Ross Shuttle Vans will be used to transport children who lack alternative options in order to attend their doctor’s appointments at Cohen Children’s.

The Rosses have also underwritten a second Neonatal Transport System, which will move newborns who require critical care to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Cohen Children’s Medical Center from other hospitals in the region.

This state-of-the-art system provides the most advanced technological support needed to sustain infants during their transfer.

Delta Air Lines Fellowship

Patients at Cohen Children’s Medical Center benefit from Delta Air Lines’ generosity, most recently through a gift that underwrites the Delta Air Lines Child Life Fellow.

Adair Galanski has been named the recipient of the fellowship and comes to Cohen Children’s from Texas, with a passion for enhancing the lives of children who have received cancer diagnoses or are suffering from blood disorders.

Child Life Program specialists work with children and families to assist them in successfully coping with hospitalization and the uncertainties of illness.

Fashion Show Raises Money for Pediatric Heart Center

Marilyn Bird, a junior at Adelphi University, held the second Heart for Fashion 2 to increase awareness of a rare genetic disorder — Marfan syndrome — and to benefit the Pediatric Heart Center at Cohen Children’s Medical Center. Marilyn’s brother, William, was diagnosed with Marfan syndrome, which causes enlargement of the aorta. The fashion show raised $12,000 and provided an opportunity for the Bird family to express their gratitude for the care William received from Angela Romano, MD, a cardiologist in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at Cohen Children’s. Dr. Romano turned William’s life around by offering a course of treatment that has allowed him to once again participate in sports and live life to the fullest.
