Crain’s Health Pulse
October 14, 2013
North Shore-LIJ and EmblemHealth have entered into a new accountable-care arrangement for some 170,000 members enrolled in all of the insurer's products, including commercial, Medicare and Medicaid plans. The three-year shared-savings agreement also involves the Manhattan Physician Group, the Queens-Long Island Medical Group and the Staten Island Physician Practice, which are now part of AdvantageCare Physicians, a group practice with about 400 doctors. North Shore-LIJ, the group practice, and the insurer will collaborate on coordinating care in emergency, hospital and ambulatory settings and support measurable performance criteria. The hospital and doctors will be preferred providers for the EmblemHealth members, but patients will not be financially penalized if they get care outside that network.
