HUNTINGTON, NY – The Dolan Family Health Center in Greenlawn is partnering with the North Shore-LIJ Health System to provide care to people with HIV through a Ryan White Part C grant.
The three year grant, secured by the North Shore University Hospital Center for AIDS Research and Treatment (CART), allows patients to secure comprehensive care by seeing physicians, social workers, nurses, nurse case managers and a pharmacist. CART, under the leadership of Medical Director Joseph McGowan, MD, is the largest provider of state-of-the-art HIV care on Long Island.
The Dolan Family Health Center’s HIV services will mirror what is already being offered through CART in Manhasset by expanding its comprehensive services into Suffolk County. John D’Agostino, administrative director of North Shore-LIJ’s infectious disease department, said he anticipates having a nurse case manager, social worker and health educator dedicated to HIV care available at the Dolan Family Health Center, which is part of Huntington Hospital.
“The Dolan Family Health Center has been dedicated to caring for the medically-underserved population,” said William Gehrhardt, MD, medical director of the Dolan Family Health Center. “As a primary care center which has been recently designated as a Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home, we are confident that we can offer primary care to all patients. Offering health care to those with HIV is a natural progression of our services.”
The Dolan Family Health Center also provides the following services:
- Physical examinations
- Prenatal care
- Family planning
- Health Education
- Treatment and diagnosis of sexually-transmitted infections
- Non-emergency medical care
- Internal and family medical care
- Pediatrics care
