Cheryl Lampasona - gynecologic oncology patient story

At 21 years old, Cheryl Lampasona was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer that only 12 other people in the world have had. Realizing that they would have to determine their own treatment path for this rare cancer, Dr. Diana Contreras, oncologist, and her team at the North Shore-LIJ Cancer Institute made the decision to remove Cheryl’s ovary, but leave her uterus and other ovary intact. This decision, and the following treatment plan, allowed Cheryl to survive her cancer and give birth to two children at Long Island Jewish Hospital. Watch her story.
