Robert R. Goodman, MD centers his clinical work on the surgical management of brain tumors, epilepsy, movement disorders (including Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor and dystonia), trigeminal neuralgia, hemifacial spasm and hydrocephalus. His research focuses on developing novel treatments and surgical techniques that improve patient outcomes including the use of Gamma Knife radiosurgery to treat temporal lobe epilepsy and implantable brain stimulation devices for the treatment of medically refractory epilepsy. Dr. Goodman has been published in many national and international journals and has presented his research at the leading medical conferences both in the United States and around the world.

Dr. Goodman completed a fellowship in epilepsy surgery at the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital. He completed his residency in neurological surgery at the Neurological Institute of New York at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, during which time he was also a visiting clinical fellow at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Goodman finished an internship in general surgery at New York–Presbyterian Hospital. He received his doctor of philosophy and doctor of medicine degrees from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, as well as his bachelor’s degree in history and science from Johns Hopkins University.
