As executive director, Joseph Manopella leads the day-to-day operations of Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital (MEETH) — a division of Lenox Hill Hospital that offers ambulatory surgical services in ophthalmology, otolaryngology (ENT), orthopedics, podiatry, plastic surgery, urology, gynecology, vascular and general surgery. In addition, outpatient centers for orthopedics, physical therapy, ophthalmology, otolaryngology (ENT), psychiatry and primary care are housed at MEETH.
Mr. Manopella has worked at Northwell Health for more than 20 years. He previously served in leadership positions in the health system’s core laboratory and ambulatory network responsible for business development and strategy. He was also executive director of Long Island Jewish (LIJ) Valley Stream, where he intensified the hospital’s focus on patient-centered care, established a model for spine and orthopedic services, and opened a state-of-the-art unit for orthopedic and other surgical patients.
Mr. Manopella began his health care career at Mount Sinai Medical Center, holding several positions within the hospital’s ambulatory care centers. He joined Northwell in 1999 as an administrative resident, working in the internal consulting services department and the division of child and adolescent psychiatry. In 2001, he was promoted to operations director at LIJ Medical Center and later assumed the role of director of cardiac services, overseeing both clinical and faculty practice operations. In 2005, he was promoted to associate executive director at LIJ Valley Stream for ancillary and support services, including facility construction.
Mr. Manopella holds a bachelor’s degree from Stony Brook University and an MBA in health care administration from Baruch College/Mount Sinai School of Medicine.
